ON OUR NAME — ENN 縁

To connect people and cultures across the sea — that intention lives in a single Japanese word: ENN.

In Japan there is a culture of valuing en: the belief that an encounter is never mere chance, but something born from the connection between people. Our business is built on that same belief.

Every trade begins with a single en. We build the relationship before the transaction, and carry to the world only what we would stake our own name on. That is where ENN Japan begins.

01 — ABOUT

The ENN of Japan.
Connected to the world.

We are a small partnership connecting Japan and Europe.

We grow through introductions, build on trust, and stay close to the source.

Our mission is to deliver not only products, but the culture and intention behind them.

ENN — fate, connection.
The invisible thread that binds the people meant to meet.

No other language has a word that fully captures it. We work with Japanese farmers and tea masters, and we call that bond en: not a network of contacts, but a foundation of relationships built on accumulated trust.

We chose this name as a standard to uphold. Every engagement we accept must create a new en — between the producer and the shelf, between the customer and the product, between two distant cultures.

Closing that distance is our work.

PRINCIPLES

Connection

Good work begins with good relationships. We connect through introduction and grow through trust.

Provenance

産地

We care about where, by whom, and how something was made. The story behind a product is part of its value.

Timing

時機

Everything has its right moment. We know when to move and when to wait, building relationships that last.

Restraint

節度

We never promise what we cannot do. We value a record of results over grand words.

WHAT THIS STRUCTURE ENABLES
I Operations rooted in both Europe and Japan.
1716 Industries leads in Europe; ENN Japan leads in Japan. Each makes and executes decisions grounded in its own region.
II Relationships with producers.
We do not rely on second-hand information. We work directly with producers and regions, listening to them as we go.
III Independent operations by specialty.
Our culture, food, healthcare, and lifestyle activities are kept clearly separate from other lines of business, each run under a structure suited to it.
IV Protection of brands and IP.
Every brand is properly managed through contracts and intellectual-property rights — a foundation for protecting long-term value.
V A network across borders.
In both Japan and Europe we have access to banks, logistics firms, and specialists — support available where and when it is needed.

Society 47 — Japan

A journey through 47 prefectures begins in Kyoto.

Society 47 is a collection created to carry the landscapes and cultures of Japan to the world. Like making one work for each prefecture, every product gathers the character of its soil, the intent of its producers, and techniques handed down over time.

Its first chapter, “Kyoto No.26,” is a starter collection themed on Kyoto’s matcha culture: matcha, a bamboo whisk, and stoneware bowls — a set for touching the aesthetic of the region through a single bowl of tea.

ORIGIN Uji, Kyoto Prefecture
THEME Made in Japan — an experience of matcha culture
PRODUCTION 100% made in Japan, from farm to final packaging
ROUTE UK & Europe

PROVENANCE

Proof, delivered with the product.

We do not believe the words “Made in Japan” are enough on their own. Who made it, where, and how — only by delivering that context does the true value come through. For Society 47 we are building a system that organizes origin, producer, and production records and provides them with the product.

Toward a new generation of quality assessment.

In time we aim to build our own quality-assessment platform using physical analysis and data — a market where quality is described not by impression alone, but by records and verification. It is an effort to protect producers and build consumer trust.
